Strong bottom currents, highly condensed sedimentation, cephalopod shell accumulations.

During the late Devonian, this area lay beneath an open sea, on a broad seafloor that sloped gently across the western Tafilalt Platform. Dim blue-green light filtered down to a bed of soft carbonate mud. Most of the time the water was quiet and deposition almost imperceptibly slow, but distant storms sent strong currents sweeping across the bottom, stirring the mud and scattering broken shells.
